Mountain Home Highland Games

& World Fair

Free fun family event!! We will have Scottish Highland Games, many different cultural foods and entertainment. There will be a Freestyle Bagpiping Contest. Kids highland games and small carnival, Clans, Beer Garden, Craft Vendors and a raffle. We have a sponsor for the kids games if you pre-register your children on the website they will get a shirt. Kids games are for 5 to 12 years old, for 13 to 15 year olds we always need volunteers to help. 

The Highland Games will have all 9 heavy events, kids games will be determined as to what events they will have closer to the date. Registration for Highland Games will be from 8am to 9am. Freestyle Bagpipe contest is hosted by City of Trees Pipes and Drums there will be a first and second place cash prize amounts will change as registrations come in but first place will at least be $100.  Just added the Excalibur pull will be at this event to see if you can pull the sword from the stone!!!

Also this year we will have a drawing contest for any students in Elmore county that are enrolled as a Junior or Senior in High School. The winner will receive $50 in cash and an art kit and their design will go on all of our shirts!!1 The contest will start when school is back in session.  You can be in traditional school, private, alternative or home schooled. You just have to show proof that you are indeed enrolled in school.

Here is the schedual for the Kids games:

8:30am to 9am registration
9am open ceremonies
9:30am to 12pm the kids will get to know the implements, rules and history of the games.
12pm to 1pm Break for lunch (which is provided free of charge thanks to our Sponsor Subway)
1pm to 2pm final regroup into classes and late registrations.
2pm Kids competion begins
6pm Awards will be given on main stage

There will be 5 events:
Weight Over Bar (WOB)
Stone Toss
Weight For Distance
Hammers and
Caber

There are 5 classes:
5 to 6
7 to 8
9 to 10
and
11 to 12

Next year we are planning on adding a Juniors group which will be 13 to 15 year olds.

This is the schedual for entertainment and the days events. Registration:

 Athletes and bagpipes: $25 that includes lunch and a shirt.  We do offer a military discount online registration.  Register online here.

Registration for the contest will be from 12pm to 1pm and the showdown will begin at 1pm. For any rules or fees for the highland games or bagpipe contest go to www.saaa-national.org.

Kids registrations are free and they will receive a lunch also. Subway is our sponsor for lunch for the athletes, bagpipers, volunteers and kids (who pre-register).
